Semsester Courses for Individuals

Writing fiction gives you the chance to unleash your imagination in ways almost nothing else can. Instead of searching for the “right answer,” you get to create something entirely your own—your characters, your worlds, your conflicts, your outcomes. These stories belong to you. Every time you sit down to write, you’re building something new, exciting, and completely original. And the best part? You don’t have to start at an expert level. You begin with simple, fun techniques and steadily grow your skills, discovering along the way just how much creativity you have to share. Writing fiction isn’t just learning—it’s an adventure you get to shape with every choice you make.

These courses give you the chance to become a storyteller with real skill, confidence, and creativity. You’ll explore one powerful writing technique every two weeks—such as character development, plot design, dialogue, setting, or the Goal-Motivation-Conflict framework—and use that technique to create a complete short story. With every new cycle, you’ll see your writing grow stronger as you build a collection of original stories that reflect your imagination and your unique voice.

These courses are also designed to help you grow in ways that reach far beyond writing. Each story you create strengthens important life skills—critical thinking, decision-making, communication, problem-solving, creativity, and the ability to understand different perspectives. The more you write, the more you learn about how choices shape outcomes, how conflicts are resolved, and how ideas can be expressed clearly and powerfully. If you want to write your own fiction stories that are exciting, meaningful, and genuinely transformative, this full fiction-writing experience will inspire you, challenge you, and equip you to become a confident writer with stories worth sharing.

Telling great fiction stories lets you explore the “what ifs” of life—what if someone had to make an impossible choice, what if a mystery unraveled everything, what if a character changed because of one defining moment? Writing fiction helps you understand people, express complex ideas, and give voice to the things that matter most to you.

These courses will help you become a skilled storyteller one story at a time.
Every two weeks, you’ll focus on a single craft technique—developing multidimensional characters, building strong plots, applying the GMC framework, crafting tension, writing natural dialogue, creating vivid settings, and more. Then you’ll use that technique to write a complete short story from start to finish. Instead of producing one long story for the entire semester, you’ll create multiple stories, each one deepening your understanding of how effective fiction works. By the end of the course, you’ll have a portfolio of original stories that reveal your unique voice and your growth as a writer.

These techniques do more than strengthen your writing—they sharpen the way you think. Understanding goals and motivations helps you analyze decisions in real life. Crafting plot structures strengthens organization and logical reasoning. Writing dialogue and conflict helps you communicate more clearly and understand perspectives different from your own. Revising teaches you how to evaluate your work and improve it with purpose. Every two-week cycle trains you in creativity, critical thinking, and communication—skills that matter in writing, school, relationships, and future careers. By the time you finish the semester, you’ll know how to craft stories worth sharing and ideas worth expressing.

Great stories matter because they let you explore choices, challenges, and exciting possibilities—all through characters you create. When you learn how to tell powerful stories, you also learn how to express your own ideas in a way that captures attention.
This course lets you become the kind of storyteller who gets better with every story you write. Every two weeks, you’ll learn a powerful new writing technique—character development, plot structure, the GMC framework, dialogue, setting, conflict, and more—and then you’ll use that technique to create an entire short story. Instead of writing one long story over the whole semester, you’ll build a series of stories, each one giving you a chance to practice a specific skill and see your writing improve on the page. By the end of the semester, you’ll have a full collection of stories that came entirely from your imagination and your choices as a writer.

And while you’re creating these stories, you’re also building skills you’ll use for the rest of your life. Understanding character motivation helps you understand people. Building a plot strengthens your ability to organize and evaluate ideas. Writing dialogue helps you communicate clearly. Revising strengthens your critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Each two-week cycle makes you more confident, creative, and capable. By the end, you’ll know how to tell stories that are exciting, meaningful, and completely your own.

Stories are powerful because they let you explore new worlds, imagine big adventures, and bring exciting characters to life. And the best part is—you get to be the one who creates it all.
Get ready to write lots of exciting stories—stories that come straight from your imagination! In this course, you’ll learn a brand-new storytelling skill every two weeks, and then you’ll use it to create a whole short story of your own. One story might focus on building amazing characters. Another might explore how to design an exciting plot. Another might help you practice the Goal-Motivation-Conflict framework or writing great dialogue. Each story becomes a fun new adventure powered by your ideas. By the end of the semester, you won’t just have one story—you’ll have a collection of your own creations, each one showing how your skills are growing.

And as you write, you’ll be building real-life skills too. When you make decisions for your characters, you practice thinking carefully about choices. When you shape your plot, you learn how to organize ideas. When you revise your stories, you learn how to make something better step by step. Every two weeks, you’ll grow as both a storyteller and a thinker. By the end of the course, you’ll feel confident, creative, and ready for even bigger adventures in writing.

A Creative Writing Experience That Turns ELA Into an Adventure

Welcome to writing courses designed to spark imagination, build confidence, and make storytelling one of the most enjoyable parts of your school year. Create Great Stories: Studio Courses are an exciting, easy-to-follow set of supplemental courses that fit beautifully alongside any ELA curriculum. In just one hour every week, you’ll learn how to craft characters, shape stories, and discover the joy of writing fiction — all while having fun.

Most importantly, these courses allow you to create your own stories.

Each month of the course introduces a brand-new skill through short, engaging lessons that help you improve your storytelling. You don’t just learn about writing — you actively create, building a complete short story every four weeks. These stories release your creativity and result in a real accomplishment.

The Story Studio approach makes writing feel like an adventure, not a chore. You learn by imagining, exploring, experimenting, and playing with ideas. You discover how to make characters feel real, how to build exciting scenes, how to write dialogue that sounds alive, and how to shape stories from beginning to end. Every step is designed to build confidence and creativity, whether you already love writing or are just beginning to explore it.

By the end of each semester, you will have created multiple original stories — each one filled with personality, imagination, and heart. You’ll not only be a stronger writer, but a more thoughtful reader, better thinker, and a more confident communicator.

Create Great Stories: High School Story Studio invites you to explore fiction writing in a fresh, low-pressure, creative way. In the advanced semester, you deepen your craft with more advanced storytelling skills. You’ll learn how to build atmospheric settings, create layered antagonists, design full story arcs, and write compelling duo-driven stories. Each cycle ends with a polished short story that you’ll be proud of and wanting to share with your friends.

But here’s what matters most: your stories belong to you. This course doesn’t hand you a formula or force you into a specific style. Instead, it gives you tools that help you tell the stories you want to tell — stories that reflect your personality, your creativity, your ideas, and your voice. You’re the author. We simply help you write with more power and clarity.
