Fiction Writing Courses That Teach
How to Think, Write, and Grow

Courses that Students Love

Our courses are designed to do more than spark creativity. They guide students step by step through the skills real writers use—so they can understand stories, create them intentionally, revise them confidently, and grow with every piece they write.

Every course in the membership follows a thoughtful, consistent structure.

Each course blends clear instruction, interesting and engaging examples, short but meaningful activities, creative expression based on what the student wants to explore, and reflection—so students don’t just write more, they write better.

What’s Included in Every Course

Solid Instruction That Builds Real Writing Skills

Students receive clear, focused instruction that breaks writing down into understandable parts. Instead of being told to “write better,” they learn how stories work and why certain choices matter.

Lessons guide students through core elements of fiction such as structure, character development, goals and conflict, dialogue, description, and pacing. Concepts are introduced in manageable steps and revisited throughout the course so skills are reinforced rather than rushed.

The goal is confidence—students understand what they’re doing as writers, not just following instructions.

In every section of every course, students pause to connect what they are learning about fiction writing to how they think, reason, and make decisions.

As students study characters, goals, conflicts, and consequences, they also practice analyzing situations, weighing options, recognizing motivation, and thinking through cause and effect. Writing fiction becomes a safe, creative space to explore judgment, empathy, perseverance, and problem-solving.

Students aren’t lectured or tested on abstract skills. Instead, they discover that the same thinking used to build strong stories is the thinking they use in real life.

Over time, students begin to approach both writing and real-world situations more thoughtfully. They ask better questions, notice patterns, and express their ideas more clearly—skills that support academic work, communication, and personal growth.

Built Into Every Section: Critical Thinking and Life Skills

Interesting, Thought-Provoking Examples

Each lesson includes examples chosen to make students think. Rather than simply showing what “good writing” looks like, examples are used to explore why something works and how small choices change a story’s impact.

Students learn to notice patterns, evaluate decisions, and develop their own judgment as writers—skills that carry over into reading, critical thinking, and communication.

Before moving on to longer writing, students complete short, creative mini-activities designed to lock in each concept.

These activities are quick, focused, and enjoyable. They allow students to try out a skill immediately—experimenting, making mistakes, and learning without pressure. By the time students begin a full story, the lesson already feels familiar.

Fun Mini-Activities That Reinforce Each Lesson

Regularly Completed and Revised Stories

Writing instruction only works when students actually finish what they start.

About every two weeks for full semester courses, or every four weeks for supplement courses, students complete a full story and then revise it using the skills they’ve learned. Revision is taught as a creative and positive process—not as punishment or endless correction.

Over time, students can clearly see their progress as their stories become stronger, clearer, and more intentional.

Each major section of a course ends with a recap and reflection lesson. Students review what they’ve learned, reflect on how their writing has changed, and begin to recognize their own growth.

These lessons help students internalize skills instead of moving past them too quickly. Reflection builds confidence, independence, and a stronger sense of ownership over their work.

Optional Christian Writing Supplement

Each section has a Christian Writing Supplement for families who choose to use it that connects writing concepts to Biblical stories, themes, and Scripture.

This supplement is completely optional and designed to build on the main lesson—not replace it. Students explore how storytelling, meaning, and truth are woven throughout Scripture, deepening both their writing skills and their understanding of Biblical narratives.

Courses are available for different age levels and can be used at a pace that fits your family. Because all courses are included in the membership, students can move between courses as their interests and needs change.

Whether a student is writing once a week or treating writing as a full elective, the structure remains clear, supportive, and consistent.
